Get ready for the EXAMS!!
Hi Guys!
Here are, as I promise you, several links and materials for your EXAMS training.
First, watch the video on the READING COMPREHENSION post.
WRITING PRODUCTION
This is the most difficult skill to reach, as we have to remember all the linguistic features we have been learning. It takes several years and a lot of exercise to get familiar with this skill. But it doesn't mean we can't be able to write an accurate simple A2-level essay. Of course, we can!
First I remind you to see the link on the left bar of the blog's homepage 'How to write a letter' that gives you the structure of a letter writing and actually of an e-mail, even if this is more informal, too.
General writing prompts:
First, use properly the dictionary from English to Italian and viceversa.
e.g.
Remember to read all the explanations and find the APPROPRIATE collocation in the context!!
Avoid the AB use of that!
Use SIMPLE and SHORT sentences!!!
Remember 'English is an SVO language, so your sentences must start with a subject (WHO) and a verb (reflect on the right tense) followed by an object (WHAT), add WHERE, WHEN and WHY if necessary.
REVISION
Last, but not least: Read again your production and check if there are any mistakes
Here is a video from a colleague (prof.ssa Martini) about frequent mistakes:
watch it!!

Inside Out Movie
Hi guys!
For the next TASK, we are going to watch the movie Inside Out.
Brainstorming
Warm-up
Do you know what type of movie is it? What does it talk about? What does 'inside out' mean?
Extension 1 - in class (group work)
Let's have fun and make a short movie!
Divide into groups of 3/4 students.
Using PhotoStory3 program, make a short video, following these instructions:
- The video must last a maximum of 3 minutes
- Use the 5 emotions (JOY, FEAR, DISGUST, SADNESS, ANGER) of the movie we saw in class
- It must have music and pictures linked to the emotions
- It must have texts, using if-clause structure (ex. If I play with my friends, I'm HAPPY)
- You can use the effects you prefer.
Extension 2 - in class (groupwork)
Let's play!
Divide into groups of 5/6 students. Make a poster with a goose game about 'inside out'.
Instructions:
42 boxes:
- start
- finish
- 10 orders (2 each feeling) such as skip one turn, go forward/backward n. places, go back to the start, roll the dice again that must be watched to the feeling in the movie (e.g. Joy makes you jump, or Sadness makes you back to the start, and so on...)
- 25 questions about the personality islands (family, friendship, etc)
- 5 pictures (print movie pictures and glue on the poster) with a question link to the feeling character (1 each)
Enjoy!!!
